The Dead Zone review

Posted : 11 years, 7 months ago on 24 September 2012 12:08 (A review of The Dead Zone)

John Smith is a common name, and the owner of this name is just a regular guy with parents, girlfriend and work, until a car accident is a change within him and from that moment be able to know, just taking hands, the past, present and future of all who cross his path. This can entail a responsibility that abocará a dramatic finish which will make the final decision for the future of humanity.
Written with precision and great detail in the style of Stephen King, is a good example of their good work and I recommend it highly, as the viewing of the film of the same name, The Dead Zone, the famed director John Carpenter and starring Christopher Walken.
It is an enjoyable and entertaining read.

The Collector review

Posted : 11 years, 7 months ago on 19 September 2012 03:52 (A review of The Collector)

Although not known for having a particularly credible argument *, is compensated by a judicious use of the camera and sound, some deaths fairly animals (not saved or the poor cat), and its moments of tension.

A tape, which no big deal, it is imposed by above average so mistreated in the horror genre. Recommended to see no expectations.

Firefly review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 27 August 2012 12:15 (A review of Firefly)

I love Firefly, much much, some think it's ridiculous that a series with only 13 episodes aired have been able to raise so much admiration around it, but is that television plot created by the great Joss Whedon for almost 10 years (how time flies) is much more than that, is an exquisite blend of genres and despite its short duration manages to give rise to a whole universe itself. We talked it once but if someone still lost only know it's a science fiction series set in one of the not too distant future with a very particular style and it was canceled by FOX, famous for not afraid pulse in these matters, because it did not offer the expected audience levels.

So much for the story, a few years later opened '[Serenity]', a film as a continuation and closure to please the fans, although it is still worthy does not do justice to the series and to this day. Over time, standard Firefly has been canceled cult series and still maintains a spectacular fandom activity and merchandising sales associate who can not escape any clever television producer. Maybe that's why since Science Channel has announced the reissue series have reawakened the perennial rumors that Firefly could return.

Best of all is that Nathan Fillion has already confirmed he would not mind at all to play the lead back and slip into the skin of Mal, the captain of the ship. Right now the biggest problem is, of course, that all players are scattered around different shows on different channels and is almost impossible to cancel or terminate the all at once so that they are all free at the same time and may arise the return. Nathan Fillion currently stars Castle, a police dramedy in which is doing pretty well, the beautiful Summer Glau is immersed in the recent The Cape, still frowning brow Adam Baldwin in Chuck and Morena Baccarin in V.

And why do I say that could come back? Well, because Fillion is not the only one interested, after Entertainment Weekly soltase would not mind playing the role again, shortly after one of the writers, Jose Molina, replied on Twitter that were to account for, who is offering Jane Espenson joined later, another writer. Hope is the last thing to go and I do not see so very improbable (okay, a little), who once again have serious news of Firefly, at least with a different cast that only participate in some of the old players , which were available Would not it be wonderful? Cross your fingers.

The Noah's Ark Principle review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 26 August 2012 06:25 (A review of The Noah's Ark Principle)

I am one of the few who saw in his first film colombi. Rent the beginning of Noah's Ark (Das Arche Noah Prinzip, 1984) in one of those old neighborhood video stores. I was a teenager and I have not visionarla, but I found an interesting movie. Apparently, this was his first film work Limit in Germany, but in view of its quality commercially exploit decided. The action unfolded aboard a space station run by Europeans and Americans. Here Americans officiated by evil imperialists who tried plugging the hard way in the Middle East invasion. I guess the good thing about Roland is still expiating this peccadillo of youth.

He made the film for his doctoral thesis in 1981 (according to Wikipedia),
and opened the International Film Festival in Berlin in 1984.
In the same year the film was distributed.

The Noah's Ark Principle review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 26 August 2012 06:15 (A review of The Noah's Ark Principle)

interesting debut Roland Emmerich, director of "Independence Day," "Stargate," "Godzilla" and the expected "10,000 BC". Science fiction story set in the year 1997 (the film is from 1984), and where all the action takes place on a space station. Not your typical directorial debut of R. Emmerich, with little budget and few resources, quite the opposite, more like what has driven at hand virtually his entire career, ie making blockbusters. SPOILER: the most interesting thing about the film is the central theme: time management metereológico by people, who, to this day, remains one of the biggest conspiracies. END OF SPOILER.

Ender's Game review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 23 August 2012 02:33 (A review of Ender's Game)

Ender's Game" is the classic book that I've spent years recommending to anyone who had wanted to hear.

And it is one of the books I liked, first as a teenager and later as an adult, in a second reading just as fascinating as the first.

The novel by Orson Scott Card, is a classic of science fiction Hugo Award and won the Nebula in 1986 and in 1985 (the most important of its kind). "Ender's Game" tells the story of Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the third son of a family (in a future society where the number of children per couple is limited to two) who is recruited by the army to save the earth mankind from the threat of an alien attack. The novel explains the whole process of training Ender in "Battle School" where gifted children is prepared to lead the war, while showing its relationship with Valentine and Peter, his older brothers.

Orson Scott Card delves into the mind of Ender through his training and manages to convey the thoughts and feelings of it with each new challenge posed by their teachers and peers. The personality development of Ender in the "Battle School" is full of brilliant moments and is clearly one of the most interesting parts of the book.

The other is Ender's relationship with his brothers, Valentine and Peter. Valentine, the sister who loves him, understand him and treats him like a child and Peter's older brother since childhood cruel and forces Ender to respond to all kinds of attacks. The characters of Peter Valentine and we also offer one of the things that surprised me (and continues to surprise me) of "Ender's Game". They are dedicated to send "letters" that reach the public through a "terminal". This want to influence government decisions on land and the general mood of society. Something similar to what today would be blogging and something that makes a visionary Scott Card, when you consider that the novel was written in 1985! when Internet was just an embryo than it is today.

What "Ender's Game" is a bit hawkish and not just an apology for the love between the races? I will not deny, but I doubt it was intended to focus on that Scott Card or make any apology (we can not say the same for Robert A. Henlein and his "Starship Troopers", for example). I think Scott Card was much more interested in training as a person and leader Ender that show the buggers (the aliens in the novel) as an inferior race.

I also think a strong point (although some consider it rather obvious) end. Surprising, unexpected and well resolved, I thought it was the perfect ending to the story of Ender.

Obviously a classic must for any lover of science fiction by mysterious accident has not yet met him. Also essential for anyone who wants to read a good book.

Ender's Game review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 23 August 2012 02:32 (A review of Ender's Game)

I hooked and I read it in one sitting.
Ender's training explained in great detail and is the basis of the book. Perhaps the final, in comparison, is a bit rushed and could extend a couple of chapters.
Recommended.

Ender's Game review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 23 August 2012 02:31 (A review of Ender's Game)

Very good, shame that I had seen the film and therefore already "knew" what would happen. The book is a little different compared to the film in some ways irrelevant, but the principle is the same. Good storytelling and good ideas.

Frayed (2007) review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 12 August 2012 03:01 (A review of Frayed (2007))

Frayed is a must-see film, an example that you do not need a high budget, only talent and ideas to capture your vision clear on the screen. Great script and well executed but perhaps I miss hemoglobin but also recomendadisima.
Greetings to all!
